Alison Hughes serves as the Assistant Dean of Students/Director of New Student & Family Programs at Florida State University. She works directly with Family Connection, an organization committed to keeping FSU families connected to each other and the University as a whole. Additionally, Alison oversees the university’s orientation program, serving over 8,000 students and 7,500 family members annually. She believes that family members can play a significant role in the collegiate experience and has worked with families for over 8 years ensuring a smooth transition through appropriate familial involvement, communication, and support.
Before beginning her career at Florida State University, Alison served as the Assistant Director of Parent & Family Programs within the New Student & Family Programs at the University of Arkansas. She completed her Master of Arts in Higher Education Administration at the University of Alabama and her Bachelor of Arts in English and at Auburn University.
