About This Course

NASPA is pleased to co-sponsor this webinar with NACUA. Please visit the webinar's event page on NACUA's website for further information and to register.

The Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act requires colleges and universities participating in federal financial aid programs to maintain and disclose campus crime statistics and security information. The Education Department’s office of Federal Student Aid has responsibility for receiving Clery reports filed by institutions of higher education and for auditing and enforcing their compliance with the Act. Many colleges and universities have received substantial fines following FSA audits of their Clery compliance.

In this webinar, two experienced and skilled legal practitioners will describe what to expect from an FSA Clery Act audit. Their presentation will explore:

  • What the Clery Act requires of institutions of higher education;
  • The tools FSA has in enforcing the Clery Act;
  • Preparing for a Clery audit;
  • The steps in a Clery audit and what in-house and outside counsel should be doing at each step throughout the course of the audit;
  • Communicating about a Clery audit with interested stakeholders during and after the audit; and
  • Steps to be taken following the completion of the audit

Who Should Attend

This webinar will be of interest to general counsel and other campus attorneys who advise colleges and universities on complying with the Clery Act. This webinar will also be of interest to other campus personnel responsible for the various tasks involved in complying with the Clery Act.
